Tiny, the theme of this week Photo Hunt. What would you think when you saw the word tiny? For the DOTA players, they will answer one of the super hero in the game, Tiny, the Stone Giant. According to the definition in Wikipedia, Green Computing is the study and practice of using computing resources efficiently. Everyone of us has the environmental responsibility to conserve energy, reduce waste, use environmental friendly products, recycling, debate on global warming and practice the 3R concepts.

The technological systems are getting powerful, but a lot of energy is wasted and lost. Therefore, we must learn to use the computing resources efficiently and save the environment. There are some ways to reduce the power consumption and go for a “greener” environment as listed below.

I took this photo in Suvarnabhumi Airport, the new Bangkok Airport on my way to Busan, Korea. All domestic and international flights in Thailand now arrive and depart from this airport. It was a transit flight, I departed from KLIA, Malaysia and stopped in this airport for two hours before going to Busan. I was glad that I got the chance to visit this new airport  on my journey to Busan.

Security Encryption in Firefox

Security is one of the strong features demonstrated in Firefox 2 to ensure the users have a good browsing experience. For this reason, Secure Sockets Layer 2.0 (SSL 2.0) is disabled by default as they treat the protocol as weak and unsafe. Before going on further, SSL are cryptographic protocols which provide secure communications on the Internet for various purposes including web browsing, e-mail, instant messaging and data transfers.

Therefore, Firefox 2 will enable and run SSL 3.0 only by default to enhance their security. However, there are some difficulties when users are trying to access web pages running with SSL 2.0 encryption. There are still a lot of e-billing system use this protocol to provide secure data transmissions. Consequently, you might get the following error message:

Google Code Search

Google Code Search is a free beta product from Google which debuted on October 5, 2006, allowing all the web users to search for codes on the Internet. Most of the programmers would like to use this tool to find relevant code snippets.

Now, the service is improved with some new features listed as follows:

  • Greater Coverage - Individual files and code snippets from all over the web is indexed
  • Improved Ranking - Class and method definitions now appear closer to
    the top of search results for certain queries.
  • Improved Access - Google Code Search can be accessed from several international domains.

Windows Vista Windows Vista

The Aero Glass interface of Windows Vista looks cool, but it needs higher requirements and resources to keep your system running on well. The visual effect is nice but it will become annoying after some times. So, you might want to tweak your system to tune your Windows Vista performance.

Actually, you can do this in few seconds time. Only few steps are required to boost up the performance of your machine. There are few ways to access the performance options. However, there are two easiest ways to achieve this.

1) Right-click Computer -> Properties -> Advanced system settings -> Click on the Settings button under Performance section

2) Click Start -> Type “SystemPropertiesPerformance” in the search field -> Enter

PhotoHunt - Sweet

Yeah, the theme of this week is Sweet! Sweet can mean many things to me, sweet memories, sweet taste, sweet heart and much more…After choosing the photos, I decided to put up this photo to show the sweetness. These are the snacks that we bought from Home plus in Korea. Yummy and tasty ;-)

For your information, Home plus (????) is a South Korean/British discount store retail chain jointly operated by Samsung and Tesco with 57 branches throughout the country (Wikipedia). I was shocked too when I knew that Home plus is actually Tesco in Korea. :ueue:

As we know, South Korea is one of the countries well-equipped with broadband facilities and the market is still growing rapidly. This is the result of a combination of government pushes and market factors. You can check with the statistics shown here. Compared to my country, Malaysia, there is still a lot of effort needed to catch up the technology here.

BitTorrent is one of the famous peer-to-peer file sharing communications protocols widely used by all the broadband users. The connection speed is pretty fast, and the download speed is amazing compared to the facilities provided in my country. Lets see some of the screen shots shown below:

Food in Korea

When we talk about the food in Korea, most of us will think about Kimchi, a traditional Korean fermented dish made of seasoned vegetables. However, there are much more lovely food you can taste in Korea. Our seniors who are studying here brought us to different food stalls and try out with all kind of delicious food.
